Select thickness and sheet length separately
Thickness, overall sheet dimensions and finish each answer a different project requirement. Confirm the specified thickness against adjoining materials and edge details, then compare the sheet length with the longest finished pieces. Do not infer structural performance from thickness alone.
Build a cut-based quantity estimate
Lay out the longest pieces first, then identify where remaining material can supply shorter sections. Account for openings, orientation, seam locations and a project-appropriate cutting allowance. A cut plan gives a more useful quantity than dividing the total surface area by sheet area alone.
Compare sheet materials and sizes
Review the complete MDF and PVC sheet collection to compare available formats before selecting the panel for the project.
